Lesson overview:

This Halloween idioms worksheet teaches 10 idioms that adults use all year, at work, in the news and on dates: a skeleton in the cupboard, a ghost town, the graveyard shift, make your blood run cold, jump out of your skin, ghost someone, a witch hunt, give someone the creeps, over my dead body and dead on your feet. Students match each idiom to its meaning and use it in sentences, changing the form where they need to. Then they fix idioms with one wrong word, like a skeleton in the fridge, and correct grammar slips such as she ghosted to me. They decide whether a sentence is literal or an idiom, rewrite plain news headlines the way a journalist would, and match each line to the person most likely to say it. They finish by answering everyday situations with the right idiom.
