Lesson overview:
In this lesson, students build storytelling confidence by working with short narratives and AI-generated images. Using a dictogloss approach, they reconstruct a story, identify sequencing words, and practise Past Simple forms.
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- use sequencing words (first, next, then, after that, finally)
- tell a short story in chronological order
- use Past Simple forms more accurately
Lead-in:
Start by asking students if they’ve ever had a terrible morning. What happened? Elicit a few Past Simple verbs (e.g. woke up, forgot, missed). This short pair discussion activates prior knowledge and naturally introduces the theme of everyday storytelling.
