Lesson overview:
In this lesson, students compare famous cities around the world while practising comparative adjectives. They guess city facts, read short texts about Singapore and Melbourne, and use data about weather, size, distance, prices, and population to make comparisons.
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- form comparative adjectives correctly;
- compare cities using than;
- use as…as and not as…as for equal or unequal comparisons;
- describe and guess cities using comparative clues.
Lead-in:
Start with a city quiz where students guess answers to questions like Which city is older, Cairo or Athens? and Which city is bigger, Tokyo or Shanghai? This gets them thinking about city facts and naturally introduces comparative forms before the grammar focus.
