Lesson overview:
This A1–A2 lesson is all about those little everyday things we never know the name of—like that tiny metal thing for your earring or the stretchy band you use for your hair. Students will learn useful vocabulary for common small items (aka bits and bobs) and how to describe objects when they forget the word. With real-life dialogues, fun matching tasks, and role-plays, they’ll walk away feeling more confident using English in those “uh… what’s this called?” moments.
Lead-in:
Start by showing your students a pile of small, random objects (real or on a slide). Ask: “Do you know the English words for these?” Let them guess or describe the items. This playful activity gets them talking and sets the stage for learning useful language around mystery objects.
