Lesson overview:

This present continuous worksheet starts with a camera in Alaska. Every summer, a live webcam at Brooks Falls films brown bears catching salmon, and people all over the world watch it. Students read six short lines about what is on the screen right now (a bear is standing at the top of the waterfall, salmon are jumping out of the water) and complete the rule themselves. A building-block diagram shows the form: who, plus am / is / are, plus the verb with -ing. A table gives the four spelling rules students actually get wrong: making, swimming, lying. The guide also turns sentences into questions, shows the short answers, and puts the present continuous next to the present simple, so the bear is eating and bears eat salmon sit side by side. Then come eight exercises, including a spelling crossword, true or false about a tourist's message from a boat, and a last task where students describe what is happening around them right now. Every task works without a teacher, so the sheet also works as homework. The teacher copy adds the answers and a 15-minute presentation plan.
